BAIT REVIEW: Panther Martin

Updated: Sep 26, 2020

Every fisherman has their standby bait, the one they can always rely on. As our skill and comfort levels with new baits grows, new baits may take the place as go-to's, but there is just something special about the first bait you come to rely on. For me, that bait was the Panther Martin® inline spinner. The Panther Martin® is an easy bait to use that flat out catches fish.

Action: Tight spin with lots of flash.

Fall Rate: Fast.

Castability: Lots of weight in a compact size makes the Panther Martin cast like a bullet.

Value: A little on the expensive side for what it is at about $7 a pop.

Best Uses: Great for kids, ponds, smaller sizes are great for multiple species of panfish, larger sizes are great for trout, bass, and any predatory fish, any time you need lots of bites.

Pros: Castability, ease of use, great choice any time of year great numbers bait, huge variety of sizes, colors, and tufts.

Cons: Not great at catching size, treble hooks pick up a lot of debris, the wire holding the blade bends very easily, expensive.

Favorite Color: Rainbow Trout

Tips: Slow down. It doesn't take as much speed as you would think to get the blades spinning. Give it a slight pop occasionally for extra flash and erratic action.

Rating: B+
