Some of Cam's Favorite Bibles

It's hard to write reviews for Bibles. After all, even when a new translation is released, the stories and underlying premises stay the same. I've found that unlike most books, it's not the stories, themes, and messages in the Bible that I end up reviewing, but the features and how it fits the particular needs of the reader. Here are 5 Bibles that have found their way to the top of my Bible stack for one reason or another! Wayfinding Bible Published by Tyndale | Available in the NLT | Available in multiple bindings and colors The Wayfinding Bible was created for all of those out there who have wanted to read the Bible all the way through but always get stuck. Maybe you get stuck in the genealogies or in the Levitical Laws, but you just want to make it through. Unlike most study Bibles, the Wayfinding Bible has 3 different routes of study to take you through the Bible depending on how deep you want to delve. The Flyover Route takes you all the way through giving you the big picture without getting bogged down in the minutia. The Direct Route has a few more stops to help you understand how the big picture fits in with our history. Finally, the Scenic Route has many stops along the way to see and understand the depth of the Bible. Each stop points you towards the next to keep you from getting stuck. Waterproof Bible Published by Bardin and Marsee Publishing | Available in multiple translations | Available in multiple colors Really all you need to know about this Bible is in the name. I know what you are asking and the answer is yes, this Bible really is waterproof. Yes even the pages! When I was working youth camps during the summer in the mountains where it rained every night, this Bible was a lifesaver! If you are sending your youth to camps (once it's safe to do so again) and you want to know that their Bible isn't going to get ruined, whether by rain or lake or any other kind of water, this is the Bible that can take it. Take it camping, fishing, hunting, to the beach, or to the pool with confidence! Life Application Study Bible Published by Tyndale | Available in multiple translations | Available in multiple bindings, colors, and print sizes This is the nation's best selling study Bible for a reason. There is no Bible that has better study notes for home learning. This isn't going to be one Bible Swiss army knife for pastors preparing a sermon, but it can be in the arsenal, and for anyone going home after Bible study to continue their learning it doesn't get better than this. There are so many different study tools that no matter what your life looks like, there is something here to help you apply the Bible's teachings to your life. Compass Study Bible Published by Ecclesia Bible Society | Available in the Voice Translation | Available in multiple bindings and colors The strong point of the Compass Study Bible is its topical studies. If you want to study verses related to a particular topic, the Compass Study Bible makes it easy to find those verses and the study notes are clear and concise. Another thing I love about the Compass Study Bible is that it is in the Voice translation. The Voice can be a bit wordy at times, but that is because some of the Hebrew and Greek words that are translated take a full sentence of english words to come across correctly! The Action Bible Published by David C. Cook, Illustrated by Sergio Cariello | Available in Hardcover The Action Bible is the Bible in Graphic Novel form and the illustrations are stunning. Recommended ages 9-12 some of the more gory details of the Bible are spared, but if you have a child who is loving graphic novels but doesn't want to read, this is a phenomenal way to get them to the stories and messages of the Bible. This is the Bible that builds your child's confidence in their reading skills and teaches them Biblical values.
